Barrenpaw had been excited ecstatic at Waspstar's news. He was an apprentice. In the right Clan now, too. He missed the thought of having parents, but he wasn't supposed to miss his. CreviceClan was good. When having a slightly-autistic cat for a leader, there was no real... strictness to it all. MountainClan were the ones being dumb about the stupid grudge of theirs, and it was going to get cats killed.
He sighed, turning onto his back, his spine digging painfully into the cold, hard floor. There were too many dumb, petty thoughts worming around inside his head. His kit-memories were weak and clouded, quickly dissipating. He couldn't sleep. And eventually, he just gave up.
He stood, and attempted to shake out the scraps of bone-dry, dirty moss and sharp little sticks out of his pelt, but the scraps thwarted him. Being the only apprentice, and not having any training yet, bedding was now his priority. He was only half looking forward to his training sessions with Waspstar.
He flexed his claws and arched his sore back, hearing a satisfying crack, and he left the den. There was somewhere he wanted to go.
He headed out, hearing the soft click, click, click of his claws on the worn stone. He weaved himself around the narrow ledge, glad for the impeccable balance of a feline.
He heard the roar of water before he saw it. He turned a corner, and his yellow optics widened. It was beautiful. He'd seen it as a kit, when he'd been carried off by an owl, and had been meaning to explore it. And what better time than now.
It was a river that ran off the edge into the ravine. A spectacular, clear waterfall that crashed into the bottom of the ravine, never to be seen again. He could go under it, and he sat beneath the roaring water, the spray adorning his pelt with crystals of water. He stared up, the view of the stars warped by the running water that ran above him. But the silvery glisten shone through the waterfall and shined upon him, reflecting droplets that stood at the ends of his hair. He looked like a tiny white galaxy. A smile tugged at his lips at the thought
And then a wave of darkness hit him. Geez, he was tired all of a sudden. The cool droplets fell in his eyes, and he longed to drink the perfect water, but he was just too tired. Stars dazzled his eyes, and he closed them. He curled himself into a tight, white ball, wrapping his tail tightly around himself, and the darkness crashed down all at once.

War. Blood. Pain. Grief. Power. Evil. Battle. Loss.
The nightmares were horrible. He never wanted to wake up more. But when he did, he wished he never woke up.
He opened his eyes, or at least, he thought he did, but all he saw was darkness. And the pain was unbearable. It was like the poisonous colour of his eyes had leaked out, and become acid, burning through his eyes and searing his brain. And all the while
Darkness
He opened his mouth and screamed. No words, just the sound of pure, unblemished agony
